Day of training with our friends from unWired Broadband

172018 October

Recently SAF North America Senior Technical Support Engineer Tatjana Dunce visited unWired Broadband - the Central Valley's number one wireless internet provider for businesses and homes in rural and underserved areas. Tatjana traveled to Fresno, CA prepared for a day of coaching and training for the unWired link deployment team.

She assured new unWired team members know how to implement SAF’s hand-held spectrum analyzer and signal generator in their daily activities. Utilizing these tools makes them more productive with tasks like:

  • link alignment
  • site survey and line of sight verification
  • radio validation
  • link troubleshooting from the convenience of being at ground level

Occasionally UnWired deploys equipment in areas where power is not yet available on-site. Using the portable Spectrum Compact and Spectrum Generator the team can mount and align the antennas, install the radios and run the cables. Once power is brought to the site the installation is completed without the time and expense of a second tower climb! UnWired’s experience has also taught them antennas mounted with OMT’s for 2+0 setups with adjacent channels and XPIC deployments with dual radios need to be adjusted in order to obtain the best possible cross polarization discrimination to obtain the cleanest signal on Vertical and Horizontal polarization receiving radios. SAF’s Spectrum Compact and Signal Generator tools can make quick work of the XPD adjustment.
